36 hours after arriving in Italy, we were back in Naples Air Ops... bad news, no seats space-a back to Norfolk on the rotater... but we waited it out and at the last minute got booked just to Lajes, Portugal. BBB rode the elevator in the terminal, acting as a "flight attendant" and pushing the buttons for anyone wishing to use his service. Despite the dismal view of aircraft leaving Lajes, we pressed. WHen we arrived, our luggage was lost (presumably still on the aircraft, but booked all the way to Norfolk by the effecient Italian locals working in Naples. Lajes was booked solid to Norfolk, no luck. Good news was the Carnival had just started in Lajes, and there were bull fights and running of the bulls in every small village on the island. We decided to wait it out though... and then we heard of a C-20 leer jet flying a VIP mission to Cherry Point! Bam, no seats. No wait... a half hour later, 2 seats, maybe, if they could get customs to come back. After 3 hours in Lajes, and with the 767 getting ready to close it's doors, 2 seats come open on the 767 to Norfolk, and 2 seats come open on the C-20 to Cherry Point. And BBB and PB are the only two who waited it out. On the 767 with our luggage, and $10 later, and two bottles of wine, PB began to relax! Trip went EXACTLY according to planned!
