I had a surprise cookout at a local's compound right on the Euphrates in place of our weekly meeting. Had a chance to swim in one of the world's most famous rivers and tip a few near beers. It was nice, and everyone seemed to have a relaxing time. The only places that are green here are those that are irrigated right off the river. It was just like the white oak, except we had a platoon on security and Iraqi police in an outer cordon.
